Ice Cream Bunnies for Easter

Easter eggs are fun and all, but this year we really wanted to make our ice cream the center of our holiday treats, and created something fun and unique with the kids. These cute character cones are definitely full of character! We used toppings like marshmallows and chocolate shell to add cuddly features to scoops of ice cream, turning them into adorable bunnies, bears and kittens. Cone or cup, you can easily make your own with countless combinations of colors, candies and personalities. Speaking of which, is it just me, or is our Cookie Bear giving a little side eye?

The kids LOVED getting to make their own ice cream bunnies! I let them take charge, choosing sprinkles for eyes (that was unexpected) and drawing chocolate smirks on scoops of ice cream to bring them to life. It was easy, quick and kept them entertained. I might even say that they liked making them as much as they did eating them! To make your own you can use whatever flavor ice cream you want, taking advantage of colors and textures to add more dimension to your characters. Look around the kitchen and accumulate edible pieces that could make eyes, noses, ears and even accessories if you fancy!

Here’s how to make ours:

Easter Bunny

Ingredients:

1 scoop of Island Pops Easter Sundae ice cream

1 square marshmallow

1 jellybean

Chocolate shell ice cream topping

Toothpick

Instructions:

Scoop ice cream into a small serving bowl.

Ears - Cut the marshmallow diagonally to form two triangles and place them at the top of the scoop side by side to form ears.

Eyes - Place a few sprinkles in each spot to mark the eyes.

Nose - Cut a jellybean in half and place the flat base of one half of the jellybean at the center of the ice cream scoop to form the bunny's nose.

Whiskers - Dip the toothpick in chocolate shell and draw three straight lines starting from the nose and extending out each at a 45-degree angle to form the whiskers.

Cookie Bear

Ingredients:

1 scoop of Island Pops Ovaltine ice cream

2 mini chocolate chip cookies

Mini marshmallow

Chocolate shell ice cream topping

1 Ice cream cone

Toothpick

Instructions:

Scoop ice cream onto a sugar cone or waffle cone for the base.

Ears - Carefully press two mini chocolate chip cookies side by side at the top of the scoop of ice cream.

Eyes - Cut a mini marshmallow in half to get two flat circles, and place each half about 1/2 inch apart to form eyes. Dip the toothpick in some chocolate shell and dot the center of each marshmallow with it.

Nose - Cut a jelly bean in half and place the flat base of one half of the jellybean right below  the eyes.

Nose and Whiskers - Dip the toothpick in chocolate shell and form a small blob (this will be the nose) about the size of the mini marshmallow below the eyes in the center. Draw two U-shaped whiskers starting from the base of the nose, curling upwards.

Kitten Kone

Ingredients:

1 scoop of Island Pops Vanilla ice cream

Chocolate Sprinkles

1 jelly bean

Chocolate shell

3 sugar cones

Toothpick

Instructions:

Scoop ice cream onto a sugar cone for the base.

Ears - Cut off the bases of 2 cones (about 1 inch from the tips) to form two mini cones. Place mini cones on either side of the top of the ice cream, about 1/2 inch apart.

Eyes - Place two chocolate sprinkles vertically side by side about 1/2 inch apart to form eye slits.

Nose - Cut a jelly bean in half and place the flat base of one half of the jellybean right below  the eyes.

Whiskers - Dip a toothpick in chocolate shell and draw three straight lines starting from each side of the nose, extending at a 45-degree angle to form the whiskers.

Take pics of your cute character cones and cups, resist the urge to hug them, and make sure to eat them before they melt.

We will definitely be making more of these throughout the Easter Holiday weekend! Please tag us on IG @islandpopsny in pics of your own if you do give them a try. We’re looking forward to seeing all the quirky combos and different characters you come up with. You can order our ice cream online at www.islandpops.com/order, or come by the shop at 680 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn New York to pick some up in person. We made our Easter Bunny character cone using our new special holiday flavor Easter Sundae which combines fresh strawberry ice cream and crushed malted whopper eggs! We definitely recommend you get some of this for your own ice cream bunnies.

Wishing you a very Happy Easter!
